Celebrating our Catholic Schools and Pennies for Patients
This winter season as we celebrate our Catholic Schools and we support the
Pennies for Patients drive, we remember two more great saints from our St. Ambrose stained glass windows: St. Frances (Mother) Cabrini and St. Elizabeth Ann (Mother) Seton. Mother Cabrini is the patron saint of immigrants and founded many schools and hospitals around the turn of the last century. Mother Seton founded the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph in Emmitsburg Maryland to teach children of the poor. This is recognized as the beginning of the parochial school system in the United States. Interesting fact: Mother Seton was not a saint when her stained glass window was installed in St. Ambrose Church, and so she is our only saint without a halo! Look for the poster made by grades 4 and 5 in the lobby to learn about the fruits of these Saints!
