Now that I celebrate almost all the Masses in the parish, my mind is on liturgy a lot. We are used to thinking of the priest as the person who holds the primary responsibility for the liturgical celebrations. Since the changes in the Mass almost 50 years ago, liturgical ministry has been a responsibility for all of us. The teaching of the Second Vatican Council said that it is the right and responsibility of all parishioners by virtue of our baptism.
There are many different liturgical ministries in the parish (lectors, altar servers, musicians, greeters, sacristans, Eucharistic ministers). You are invited to choose something that suits your time, talents, and abilities. Even if we do no other ministry, we can be active members of the assembly by greeting others, singing together and praying with one another. This is the most important ministry in the liturgy. It is important that we all do our part with energy, enthusiasm, and focus.
While not a liturgical ministry, one new ministry related to Mass is
Ambrose to You. Ms. Carla Lucero is available in the vestibule of the church on Sundays as an extension of the Parish Office for your convenience. Between 9:45 and 2:15 you can get Mass Cards, reserve a meeting space, register in the parish, and lots more.
