Mission:

The Saint Ambrose Ladies of Charity is a local chapter of the Ladies of Charity of the United States of America. Our goal is to provide material and spiritual comfort to the need in the local community and beyond. Each member uses her unique talents in her own way, with a relatively small time commitment, to give back to the community.

Actions:

• Meetings: first Tuesday of each month from September through May.
• Planning and assembling food baskets for the needy at Thanksgiving and Christmas for distribution by the St. Ambrose St. Vincent de Paul Society.
• Assisting Carroll Manor and Sacred Heart nursing homes with parties for the elderly residents.
• Conducting an annual Baby Shower for the Prince George's County Infants at Risk Program.
• Providing layettes and other infant items throughout the year to the Infants at Risk Program.
• Providing Christmas gifts to the patients on the psychiatric ward at Prince George's County Hospital.
• Visiting shut-ins.
• Sweetheart Charity Ball
  
  Thanks to the Ladies of Charity and the St. Ambrose Men's Club,St. Ambrose has sponsored four annual Sweetheart Charity Balls to end human trafficking and raised approximately $7,000 each year!  In 2016, these funds were distributed to St. Ambrose St. Vincent dePaul Society as well as to Fair Girls.
  
  St. Vincent dePaul Society -- aids the most vulnerable through practical assistance with emergency or basic needs
  
  Fair Girls provides care and opportunitues to girls and boys who have experience or are at risk of trafficking and/or secusl and labor exploitation. Fair Girls’ Vida House is the only safe house for female human trafficking survivors in this area.
